Sludge Swamp says:

After punishing you with Foscor’s black metal yesterday, I’ll be good today, I won't post any black metal, and I’ll feed you with some more juicy rock.
Snew is a US hard rock band from Hollywood ("that" Hollywood) and Snew You (2008) is their debut, self-produced album. I received the CD more than one week ago as a late birthday present from a friend, but I only listened to it yesterday night.
When I first saw the photos of the band members I said to myself “Puah, another boring sleazy rock band, another clone of Motley Crue” (and I don’t like Motley Crue …) and mentally put the CD aside. Then I listened to it and … RAAAAAAWWWWWK!
Well, nothing revolutionary and nothing new.
Just a solid, super-juicy slab of AC/DC, Motorhead, The Stooges, MC5, Ramones, Kiss, Led Zeppelin, etc. etc., all mixed together and “smacking you in the face with raw electrified monster rock and roll”.
The Snew guys may seem a clone of AC/DC, especially for the peculiar voice of the Snew singer, Curtis Don Vito (I hope it's a nickname ...). However I have that “clone” impression only when I hear Airbourne (nice, eh, but far too clone for my taste …). I think Snew are a bit more original, and they play very well.
Apparently they are about to complete the recording of a new album. Let’s see.
Well, please, give them a try.
And remember this as a birthday present for a rock-addicted friend: with such stuff you never make mistakes!

Cashbox Magazine says:

I just woke from a nice early to late evening nap and I’m as fresh and energized as a new copper-top battery… Guess what I got in the mail today? That’s right… A brand Spankin’ NEW CD by the totally Rawk’N Ruckus of a bunch called SNEW.  From the first song out of the chute to the last, “this album rocks balls to the wall.”

If you are into bands like Airborne, Broken Teeth, Jet, AC/DC, Mutt Lange productions and guitar oriented riff - rock, then this band is right up your darkest alley.  This crew really knows how to pull out all the stops… Hard Rock School 101… There is nothing new here that hasn’t been done before… However what’s snew is the cocky / swagger attitude that’s been missing from the rock world for some time now…  The riffs, the arrangements, flippant and comical lyrics and Bon Scott / Brian Johnson branded vocals, takes you back to the early to mid-80’s ‘Head-Bangers Ball’ on MTV era. SNEW stays very close to what they know and do best… And that’s to plug you in at 240 volts and to let you suck on the amperage coming off their CD awhile… I guess you could call these guys step-up transformers. You’ll be air guitar’n w/ a stiff upper lip around your living room  like an Energizer Bunny on steroids -- High Voltage Baby !!!

Simply put, this band has got some of the nicest and most colorful and smartly looking packaging I’ve seen in awhile too… I liken the artwork to a glossy Creem and / or Circus Magazine of yesteryear. I know you ol’ skool rockers know what I’m talking about too. Remember when? While I was opening up the SNEW CD with its kool red, white and glossy black cover, I kept reminiscing back to my early teens when I got my first KISS album -- ALIVE II. SNEW gives you a nice 6 page insert with the lyrics, photos and digital artwork. And lastly, some neat looking membership cards (a liken to KISS ARMY, etc.), and some small colorful baseball type SNEW cards. I kept looking in the CD for a possible guitar pick…? None to be had…Darn ! Oh Well! You can tell these Kats are totally pro. They take pride in their (product) and it shows in both the music and their presentation.

You know when ya go to the store for a bottle aspirin for a headache, and you know exactly what brand and type of pill works best for you...? Well, that’s how SNEW’s music is… Once you’ve listened to ‘em, you’ll know exactly what brand and dosage you’ll be reaching for next time your head hurts… A bottle of ‘SNEW’ should make your brain comfortably numb just in time, every time….

Best song: The perennial rock anthem 'SNEW YOU'

I give this CD 4.5 out of 5 Starz

CW's Place says:

Snew doesn’t try to fancy their songs up they play a full speed, straight ahead, style of rock music that will get your blood pumping as you listen to it. Think of early AC/DC and Guns N Roses mixed in with the punk swagger of The Ramones.

This band does one thing and they do it very well; they play a brand of monster hard rock music that is driven by guitars parts that grab you by the musical nuts-sack, squeezing tight and not letting go until you cry uncle!

They also had that independent rock spirit when it came time to get their album released deciding to forgo releasing it on a record label. The band has organized what’s known as the Snew World Order using the following statement: “We don’t have some big bloated major record label behind us and we don’t want one. What we do have is the Snew World Order, that’s YOU. By helping get the word out you can make Snew the world’s only successful band to be supported entirely by its fans and only its fans. This is ground breaking and important. While the big corporate giants have gobbled everything up and left Rock N Roll hanging out to dry, the rest of us have been true to the music we love. Kick Ass Rock.”

Snew got their start in 2005 in Hollywood California and Snew You is their debut release. The band kicks it in to high gear right from start of the album with the song, “Stand Up High.” This track is filled with fast paced driving hard rock beats that are overflowing with big guitar and drum sounds. Top all of that music off with band lead singer Curtis Don Vito’s vocals that have an authentic gritty edged rock n’ roll growl that brings each verse of song lyrics to life and you have a great hard rock song.

On the track, “Head Trauma,” the band brings in a little bit of a blues edge to their hard driving rock n’ roll party that helps to keep things fresh. “She’s A Real Gunslinger,” is a track that brings some spice to the party.

“Heavy Water,” pounds the closing ribbon on this 10- tracks release with its heavy beats, killer bass, and rock n’ roll wake-up-the-dead scream vocals.

The decision on whether you’re going to like Snew’s music is pretty simple, if you like hard driving, guitar lead rock n’ roll then Snew is going to be very high up on your list of favorite bands and if you don’t like hard driving rock music then check yourself in to the closest hospital for testing!

Rock solid fun to the max SNEW the latest in a long line of Hollywood metal hair bands sends us Snew You.
With AC/DC vocals & hard hitting rock’n roll backing SNEW gets it across with extreme virtuosity. This stuff is such fun! What’s not to love about SNEW.

Dirty Rock Magazine says:

Led by vocalist Curtis Don Vito, a screaming AC/DC meets The Answer type of singer, Snew are stylistically classic with a slight southern vibe through the rhythm sections molded with tile blues and injecting a little punk fury. Simply put, Snew are built on a solid foundation of classic rock with a bluesed up punk edge. And this album is the real deal too tackling the important issues of sex, drugs and rock n roll with an upbeat nature designed to get you out of your seat, just as it should be.
AC/DC rockers Got Love, She's A Real Gunslinger or Head Trauma won't disappoint while Kick Me Over is a striking 7Os style belter with a fantastic
rhythm. And the dirty anthems just keep coming with title track Snew You or the rip tearing Stand Up High making this a great underground classic rock album.

Tastes Like Rock says:

Snew could be summed up as Def Leppard meets Guns n Roses (before they starting sucking)... but why stop there? Good vocals, tasty guitars, good basslines, and tight drums mixed with real party lyrics make one good bang your head, party all night rock album!

TLR! hasn't received any really slamming party rock for a few months, and this reviewer is glad Snew stepped up and delivered!
Now it's time to finish this review so I can jam to Snew You one more time before before my next review.

Snew You's excellent ten tracks are "Stand Up High", "Got Love", "Snew You", "She's A Real Gunslinger", "Kick Me Over", "Head Trauma", "Electric Is The Law", "Get It To Go", "Vibrator", and "Heavy Water".

Top tracks are the title track "Snew You", "She's A Real Gunslinger", "Kick Me Over", "Electric Is The Law", and "Heavy Water".

Kick in the ass hard rock is what Snew delivers on their debut disc SNEW YOU. I am sure you are thinking the same thing as I was… what kind of a name for a band is Snew. I quickly got past the name when I found out that Curtis Don Vito was the mastermind behind this act, as Vito was the voice of Steamroller, which was one of the first bands I ever reviewed for the pages of the Metal-Rules.com. That act was pedal to the medal hard rock/trad metal and while Snew is more straight up hard rock from the Jackyl/AC/DC/American Dog school. Nothing too original to be found here but if you are looking for some serious ass kicking party music you have certainly come to the right place!

The Snew crew waste no time kicking it into high gear as the opening track “Stand Up High” is a rip roarer of the highest order and lets the listener know that Snew is here and in your face. “She’s a Real Gunslinger” is one of the highlights of the disc with Curtis Don Vito snarling his way through a track that would make Bon and Angus proud! Now saying that I want to make it clear that Snew is not an AC/DC clone band. They, like many other bands, take parts of that sound and mix it into a huge boiling pot of influences to create some of the best rock music put out there today. Snew also doesn't forget the dirty edge that the big labels seem to easily shine from their bands. “Electric is the Law” and “Got Love” are amongst the standout tracks that make SNEW YOU such an irresistible listen.

Snew doesn’t deliver anything new on SNEW YOU. What they do deliver is some seriously energetic kick ass hard rockin metal. The vocals of Curtis Don Vito fit the music perfectly and the band of guitarist Andy Lux, bassist Cat Tate and drummer Mark Ohrenberger sound as if they have played together for 20 years. If bands like AC/DC, Jackyl, American Dog and Junkyard are what turns your crank then Snew should be mandatory listening.

AC/DC, and Jackyl are just two of many bands I would consider amongst my favorites. Hollywood, California’s SNEW somehow manages to tap into the sounds of these bands, to deliver one hellaciously good hard rock disc, “SNEW YOU”.

If you are still sitting in your chair by the time the opening cut, “Stand Up High” is done, either your headphones are broke, or the battery died in your Miracle ear.  “SNEW YOU” starts off with this awesome stadium anthem that will make you throw your fist in the air, and scream “HELL YEAH” at the top of your lungs.  The rock doesn’t stop there either.

“SNEW YOU” relentlessly pounds your senses with nine more hard rock tunes after this killer opening cut.  You won’t find any wimpy power ballads on this CD. This disc rocks hard from beginning to end. I couldn’t find a bad song in the bunch.

If you are looking for highly original sounding tunes, you probably won’t find them on “SNEW YOU”. I thought a couple of songs sounded quite similar to some AC/DC tunes, but I wasn’t bothered by that aspect of SNEW’s music one bit.  I have been enjoying every song on this disc, and hit repeat once it is done.  My only disappointment with this CD, is that I didn’t hear this disc sooner.

Don’t think for a second that the sound quality is going to be off, because this disc isn’t on a major label, that simply isn’t the case here.  This disc has good songs, with a production effort that rivals those of the big labels.

If you want to hear hard rock the way it should be played, do not pass go, do not collect $200 dollars, go to this link and buy “Snew You” todayHighly Recommended!

Snew is exactly the kind of fun, head-banging metal that I like – four Hollywood guys who make music that is a constant party. Listening to their tongue-in-cheek songs and watching their videos gives an immediate expectation of their personalities – and that expectation is RIGHT ON. I interviewed Curtis Don Vito, the lead singer, and Cat Tate, the bassist, for over two hours and I know nothing more about them than I did before the interview other than that they are hilarious, always ready with a comeback line or variation of a sentence and perfectly in sync with each other. I laughed – a lot. At times I wondered just who was interviewing who but I was having so much fun I didn’t care.

Formed in 2005, I have no idea how they met – and if Fate had a hand in it or the Devil, as impish as these guys are. Their album “Snew You” is a blast: carefree and with lyrics that aren’t the typical angry words or deep-throated screams most people expect from metal. In fact, let metal-haters listen to Snew – and convert them to metal lovers – and Snewology.

Make no mistake – while I can’t tell you a thing about their lives, I can tell you that they have a definite future in the world of music, that Snew is a combination of Jackyl’s wackiness with David Lee Roth’s fun-loving attitude and that their music will hook you.

So quick are they that they have endless puns on their name: in a recent contest they awarded a guitar to the winner of the “Snewed Tomatoes” contest; asking listeners to come up with variations of the band name: the winner received a Snew guitar for his perfect photo-shopped version of the popular drink “Mountain Snew”. Along with “Happy Snew Year”, their fan club is the “Snew World Order”… you get the drift. I had spent days trying to come up with every Snew-isms I could think of, but not one they hadn’t already thought of or heard.

For as hard as I laughed throughout the interview with HALF of the band, I can’t even imagine all four of them together in the same room – but I can’t wait to experience it on stage. These are the boys who sit in the back of the classroom throwing spitballs at the teacher or pulling the fire alarm or teasing the cute girls – and growing up to be rock stars.

They have promised a “throughout the country” tour in the summer of ’09 and I for one will not be missing it.

Electric Pussycat says:

Snew's debut, "Snew You", is an absolute must for anyone craving real rock, the kind of rock 'n' roll that is no frills, straight forward, head bangin', raw, party music like many of us grew up with in the 70s and 80s (the kind a new generation of young rockers, sick of the crap on the radio and MTV, are hungry for).  You're not bombarded with politics or world problems with Snew's music.  I don't know about you, but if I want to hear about politics or world issues, I watch the news or read news blogs.  When I listen to music it's for fun and to forget about problems for a while, which is as it should be.  Snew's music is the perfect pressure valve for letting you blow off some steam and have a good time.  So, for those naysayers who think rock is dead, never fear Snew is here!

The first track, "Stand Up High", is a balls to the wall, full-throttle, high octane song that sounds a bit like some AC/DC, Jackyl and Dangerous Toys were all thrown in a blender with rocket fuel.  This track sets the mood and lets you know what you're in for, and what a great mood-setter it is.  You're now ready to crank the volume up to ten!

Before you can catch your breath, you're into track two, "Got Love", which is one of the tracks I really like on this album.  It's funny, actually, as I'm listening to an album and taking notes I put asterisks next to the songs that really catch my attention, and I found myself putting asterisks next to almost every song on this album.  That is a truly rare thing for me, indeed!  "Got Love" also has an AC/DC and/or Jackyl feel to it.  It's one of those songs you can really shake you ass to.  Curtis Don Vito's vocals are amazing on this track.  He has a great, gritty rock 'n' roll voice that sounds a bit like Bon Scott and Jesse James Dupree all rolled into one.  His voice, along with the straight forward style of Snew's music, is why they draw comparisons to early AC/DC and Jackyl.  But, make no mistake, Snew is not just another band in the long list of copy-cat bands down through the years.  Although they are compared to other bands, their sound is entirely their own, which is why these guys should go far.

The band's anthem, "Snew You", is the next song on the album.  The beginning of the song reminds me of the Ramones, but it quickly merges into a very fast-paced, aggressive,  rockin' tune.  This song has some cool guitar riffs and a smokin' solo by Snew guitarist, Andy Lux.  All the while, the rhythm section, featuring awesome bass lines by Cat Tate, keeps up the frenetic punk rock pace of this track.

Another of my favorite tracks on this album is next.  It's called, "She's A Real Gunslinger".  Another ass-shakin', AC/DC-like song, this one is hit material.  It's got a very catchy chorus, a great beat and infectious guitar riffs.  This tune is just plain fan-freakin-tastic!

"Kick Me Over", the next song on the list, is another tune I really liked.  In fact, the rest of the songs on the album have my asterisks next to them!  This song goes in a different direction, with it's old school, 70s era, groovin' sound.  It features another scorching guitar solo by Andy and driving bass lines by Cat that reach deep inside ya.

"Kick Me Over" is followed by "Head Trauma".  This steamy, bluesy track probably reminds me, more than any other track on this album, of AC/DC.  It has the feel of AC/DC's "Ride On".  This song is flat-out killer, and Curtis shows off his pipes on this one.  He really wails at the end of this tune!

The seventh song on the CD is "Electric Is The Law".  After the slowdown of the last track, the pace picks up once again with this energy-packed, hard rockin' tune with somewhat of a Jackyl sound.  Again, as my readers know, I hate comparing new bands to existing bands, because it makes it seem as though they're just copying another band's sound.  Unfortunately, it's also the only way to help people get a picture of what a song sounds like.  So, I once again want to reiterate what I've said before.  Just because I'm making a comparison to another band, does not mean I think this band sounds just exactly like that band.  If I ever think a band is just a copy-cat band, I'll make that very clear in my review.  That being said, let me move on here.  This track has, once again, some great bass lines from Snew bassist, Cat Tate.  I also love the breaks where you hear only the drums and vocals, and the listener is again gifted with a superb guitar solo.

The next track, "Get It To Go", is burning up the asphalt, head banging rock 'n' roll.  It features some machine gun paced bass thumpin' and ass kickin' guitar licks.  This one will have your adrenaline going for sure.

After bangin' your head you get to slow down and take a breather once again with the next song, "Vibrator".  The drums on this track are very cool, courtesy of Snew's percussionist, Mark Ohrenberger.  You're also treated to soulful and bluesy guitar solos by Andy.  There are even a little bit of keyboards in this track.

The album finishes off on a high note with "Heavy Water".  After you're mellowed out by the previous track you get smacked right in the face with this rapid fire tune that's like Motorhead meets Jackyl.  It's a thrill a minute ride on the Snew train!

You know, it's so rare to run across an album where every song is good.  I don't know how Snew will top themselves in the future, but I can't wait to find out.  I can't emphasize more how much every rocker needs this CD in their collection.  I know I'm keeping this one in my CD changer for sure!

Sleaze Roxx says:

Some music begs you to listen, some music tells you to crank it up and some music just rams itself down your throat. California's Snew plays the later, and what they play is a version of Jackyl's southern sleaze with an attitude that would make Jesse James Dupree cower in fear.
Good luck finding a bad song on this debut, in fact you won't even get a second to catch your breath. Snew screams, rocks and pummels from beginning to end with a determination that only a band this young and fresh could muster up. Even when the band adds in some distorted vocals, like on the song "Snew You", it still works to perfection. The group manage to keep things pretty simple, in the way AC/DC does, but their energy makes Black Ice sound like a CD by a lounge act.
It's a good thing the band members have long hair, because these songs are tailor made for giving your neck a workover due to headbanging furry. Snew You kicks off with "Stand Up High", a song that starts with an 80's guitar riff as it evolves into a hard rock anthem. "Got Love" sounds like Jackyl meets Rhino Bucket as you can feel the cowboy boots stomping right through your stereo speakers. My personal favorite is the aforementioned "Snew You" as it just sounds so evil and mean with the distorted vocals, it is a song that has to be turned up to 11.
"Kick Me Over" sounds like it fell off a Dirty Looks album while "Head Trauma" reminds me of a revved up version of AC/DC's "Ride On". "Vibrator" slow things down a little bit, and therefore don't equal the greatness of the other tunes, but that is a very small complaint about an otherwise great album.
I love it when a young band like Snew releases a record that reinforces my love for hard rock music. By hearing so many albums I often feel as if I'm getting jaded by so much mediocre music coming out, but then someone like Snew comes along and beats that thought out of your head. Unless you hate Jackyl, or are a complete pussy, I see no reason why you wouldn't pick up Snew You.

Metal Underground says:

You won’t find “snew” in the dictionary, but the term is fast becoming a word synonymous with “Take that, big record labels.” This California-based hard rock band is unapologetic in their disdain for mainstream media, and with the release of their first album, appropriately titled “Snew You,” and their recently launched Snew World Order, they may just be trying to take over the world.

Snew is led by vocalist Curtis Don Vito, a classic long haired, screaming singer whose style is a throwback to AC/DC and Jackyl. Don’t confuse his wails with screamo, for Snew’s sound is much more classic in nature, and takes listeners back to a time when music was all about being loud and well-amped. Guitarist Andy Lux and bassist Cat Tate are masters of the grinding southern rock style, and Lux displays some definite shred talent on “Heavy Water” and “Electric Is The Law.” Drummer Mark Ohrenberger is noteworthy in his own rite, with an impressive medley on “Kick Me Over.”

The overall feel of “Snew You” is upbeat, with a solid classic hard rock sound that gets blended with touches of blues and punk. The title track in particular, features a punk tempo and style, with heavily distorted vocals. Blues enthusiasts should check out the guitar riffs in “Vibrator,” a song that you might expect to be a crude tongue in cheek track, but actually ends up being smart and soulful, as well as arguably the best track on the album, “Head Trauma.” The combination of slow grinding southern rock and blues adds a nice touch to “Head Trauma,” but the scream vocals keep it from being melodramatic.

Fans of glam metal and music with a sense of excess should like “Stand Up High,” “She’s A Real Gunslinger,” and “Get It To Go,” which features short, choppy riffs and a guitar that spirals as it shreds its way to the ending. Surprisingly, the tune “Got Love,” for which the band released a controversial music video featuring models from the Camwithher website, is probably the least showy and dramatic track on the album. It features short, repetitive guitar riffs, and vocals reminiscent of AC/DC.

Though Snew eschews the idea of being radio friendly, their music is much more mainstream than today’s version of heavy metal. There is no angry death metal or even bombastic power metal to be found on “Snew You.” It’s simply a compilation of melodic hard rock music that’s edgy enough to tempt listeners to bang their heads.

Still, their style is bold enough that mainstream media probably won’t welcome them with open arms, even if Snew would lower themselves to accept a big label offer. The band’s commitment to doing things their own way makes one wonder if they, like Jackyl, may end up putting on their own impromptu show in a Kmart parking lot near you.

Highs: Bluesy southern rock interwoven throughout, but especially featured in “Head Trauma.”

Lows: No glaring moments, though at times the scream vocals are hard to understand.

Bottom line: An upbeat, in your face hard rock album.

It didn’t take long for me to come across my first 80’s hair metal reincarnate for 2009, and in all honesty this one isn’t bad.  In my ears I hear a mixture of the Sunset Strip (early LA Guns with a tad bit of Faster Pussycat) and the 80’s European bands like Krokus and Accept.  Vocally I hear quite a bit of Udo and Chris Cornell influences.  The songs are raw, edgy, and aggressive with excellent guitar tone, a fun groove (“Head Trauma” will get the ladies strippin’), and the production is dead on letting all that youthful angst and pent up sexual frustration flow through.  These guys are local here in L.A. and I’ve yet to see them live, but if their live set is anything close to the energy on the CD then it’ll be a Rockin’ & Rollin’ good time.

Grande canzone.
Saliamo sulle moto e lasciamoci trascinare dalle note di "Get It To Go".
Grandi Snew! Voglio vedervi in Italia! Vi auguro le migliori fortune! E voi, lettori, acquistate questo CD!

If you're looking for a band that plays great Hard Rock music then one band you'll want to make sure to check out is Snew, a hot, up and coming hard rock band out of Hollywood,CA........Believe me when I tell you there's no filler material on this CD.  Snew really impressed me with this 10 track debut CD of theirs........There are quite a few things that I found impressive.......First of all they've got songs that are really well written, these guys write like seasoned songwriters and the band gels real well together and the overall musicianship is just really out of this world...I had to keep reminding myself that this is only their debut release because all 10 tracks really shine and it's my belief that they could have a hit with any of these songs....Snew doesn't sound like an up and coming band but rather a band that has been on the scene for years....I hope these guys get the break they desearve...The band's overall sound is a cross between AC/DC and Kiss but the vocals sound real gritty, and really in the vein of AC/DC....so do yourself a favor and join The New Snew Order....Snew You all because SNEW is one band that really knows how to ROCK!

Rock Times says:

Fazit: Rhino Bucket, New American Shame, Airbourne und Snew! 'Get yourself snewed!' Bitte abgreifen, die Scheibe!

Grauer Himmel, schlechte Laune?
Luftholen und weiter geht’s mit Krachern wie Kick Me Over, Electric Is The Law und Heavy Water. Klasse!

Home of Rock (Germany) says:

SNEW kicken!

Auf Nachfrage erklärt Sänger Don Vito zur Bedeutung das Bandnamens: "Snew means what ever you want it to mean. What ever makes you feel good, the thing that makes you hold your fist up in the air and shout SNEW YOU!"

Loud Horizon says:

Proving that music CAN still be simple, boisterous fun, Californian band SNEW have self-released this ten-track, forty minutes long album of no nonsense Classic Rock.

Sure, there's plenty screaming and searing guitar solos and a tight rhythm section trying to push to the fore, but SNEW are no pretentious 'Guitar Hero,' champions moving on the next stage. This is hard rock in its most infectious, melodic, anthemic form.

Apparently they have been compared to 'AC/DC and Led Zeppelin, with a little bit of The Ramones thrown in.' The Led Zeppelin bit I don't quite get, but unlike some bands who set out to imitate their heroes and succeed only in producing an amateurish (not very) sound-a-like copy-cat song(s) SNEW have taken ALL their influences and thrown them in a huge big melting pot. The result is that no direct comparison may be made to other more established bands, but rather, the listener can hear little bits of all sorts permeating the music.

For instance, from time to time the vocals turn a bit Axl Rose; the deep pounding of Def Leppard surfaces occasionally; the riffs of AC/DC are certainly there; title track 'Snew You,' is more frantic than the other tracks and until the vocals come in, there IS, surprisingly for a rock band, an echo of The Ramones; and yet at other times reference could be made to the likes of Ugly Kid Joe.

Throughout, the vocals are strong and clear with the powerful riffs guaranteed to have wanna-be rockstar kids up and down the country contorting their faces as they demonstrate their amazing, death-defying air-guitar skills.

The pace is generally high, but one of the highlight tracks is the bluesy 'Head Trauma.' It's very AC/DC which makes it a winner right from the off. 'Vibrator,' - the penultimate track - is also on the slower, blues-rock side which is good in that it adds a bit of variation to the second half of the album which otherwise I felt was starting to lose its way a little. (Maybe that's a bit strong but for me, it was just starting to lose its initial impact.)

However, don't let that detract from an excellent debut album. Don't expect anything groundbreaking - it's just a good-time Rock album with neither frills nor pretensions. If they come to Scotland, I'd certainly make a point of getting along.... AC/DC is about the only other Rock band I would say that about!

Heavy Metal Time Machine says:

Once you get past the slightly odd yet comical band name and album title, you realize that Snew are a real down and dirty hard rock machine. They play a style that follows in the footsteps of Bon Scott era AC/DC. That is an approach that is certainly not new because there have bands following that path for some time. In fact there are moments where they sound like AC/DC by way of Jackyl, Dirty Looks or Rhino Bucket. Now not everything is rooted back to that long-running Australian band. I also hear some bluesy Led Zeppelin inspired bursts churning away in the mix as well. In many ways they are as a much a sleaze rock act as they are a blues based hard rock band. No matter what the case, they bring a great of grit and swagger to their performance and it pays off. The songs are of course very basic and not particularly involved. So it is Snew's energy and spirit that keeps this ship afloat. Snew succeed at driving straight ahead and they are not afraid to throw in some different tones here and there. They are not particularly original, but they are entertaining and consistant. There have been and will likely continue to be many bands who follow AC/DC's sound. Still Snew deserve attention because they are playing solid hard rock the way it was meant to be played. While I am not quite ready to plunge straight into the Snew world order, I do think that "Snew You" is certainly worth a listen.

Power Metal says:

Snew - Snew You (Independently released CD, Rock)
What a great band name...hard to believe no one thought of it before...? The folks in Los Angeles, California's Snew play rip-roaring straight-from-the-holster loud rock that recalls the sound and spirit of classic artists like Aerosmith and AC/DC. The rhythms are hyperactive and demand movement from the listener, the guitars are in constant overdrive, and the vocalist is a real screecher. You can just tell from listening to Snew You that these folks get audiences totally revved up at their concerts. These addictive buzzsaw rockers are played simply and without any unnecessary details getting in the way. Direct rockers include "Stand Up High," "She's a Real Gunslinger," "Electric Is The Law," and "Heavy Water." As good as this disc is...we have the distinct feeling that these guys have even better stuff lined up for the very near future. This band has the potential to become...hugely popular. (Rating: 5)

Tartarean Desire says:

Let us simply begin with their name, Snew. Odd and original and simply catchy. This band takes their name as the cornerstone of their entire self-directed PR takeover. Their campaign is entitled "SnewWorldOrder," their debut CD Snew You - you get where I'm going. So after getting a few points from me for their oddly clever moniker, I began to assess their music.

The meat of the matter is that Snew You is a beeftastic platter of sleazy goodness. No gristle, no fat. Just ass shaking rawk and roll. Ten tenacious tracks of swirling sonic fun where depth and image have been eschewed for the bombastic sluttiness of the groove. These guys devoured every riff AC/DC ever laid down, every roadhouse boogie stomp Bo Diddley spat out and topped it all with Curtis Don Vito's vox which sound like fisticuffs between Bon Scott (AC/DC) and Jesse James Dupree (Jackyl).

I could dissect every track here but as with most offerings in this style of music, they really aren't that far removed from one another. I can forgive that, in fact I'd rather listen to a zillion cds full of this style of good time rock than one EP of that Nickelback drivel that saturates the corporate radio waves.

The bottom line is if you like your hard rock unfettered and fun, fast and furious, and groovy as Hell... then get Snewed.

Snew is a sleazy raunchy hard rock band. the songs on this release are fast paced, and just don't quit. when listening to this I am reminded of AC/DC, GNR, Jackyl, and some Dangerous Toys, vocalist Curtis Don Vito has one of the best voices in rock today. the band members are Andy Lux on guitar, Cat Tate on bass, Mark Ohrenberger on drums. All the songs rip! The oepning track called "Stand Up High" lets you know what this band is all about. my favorite song is "She's A Real Gunslinger" their bio states that this would be a good stripping song, and I couldn't agree more. "Head Trauma" has a blues type feel to it. In an era coined with the phrase "hope", there has emerged a band that defies the status quo and has vowed to revive the Classic Rock that made music what it should be. If you like AC/DC, Led Zeppelin, The Ramones, SNEW IS YOUR SALVATION! This gritty, hard rockin' band will rescue you from the computer generated trash that the big record companies have imposed on our society. No more Snoopy Dog, Madonna, or Brittany. Go back to the times when the only performers on stage were the artists themselves and their grand displays of their talent. You don't need "bump 'n' grind" to sell real music. This has it's own sex appeal. Tunes like "Heavy Water", "Vibrator", and "Stand Up High" are just a few on this album that will take you back to the days when rock really was rock! Great vocals, hard rockin' guitar, chest pounding drums and reverberating base take you to the past and show you the future of what rock is. They say everything is cyclical. Well, its time to rid the world of  the refuse that the record companies are putting out and get back to TRUE rock and roll. So... SNEW YOU!!!

SNEW'S OUT FOR THE SUMMER! And, they they put together an album so hot that Alice Cooper won't mind my adlib. Dude, this is the album every Rock 2.0 fan has been waiting on for a long time now...and its finally here. I'm stoked!

The album entitled “SNEW YOU” offers us ten tracks from the Hollywood Hard Rockers, SNEW. Lead by front man Curtis Don Vito (No horsehead jokes please, its his birth name) the band kicks off the face blistering good time with Stand Up High, a take-no-**** anthem that will grab your attention immediately. Following that you will find the bands anthem Snew You, which introduces each member of the band. Don Vito bellows out lyrics like “Some people play the drums, some play the bass” which gives groovy bass man Cat Tate a quick introduction, and then Curtis takes a bow for himself with “Some people jump and shout, they scream all daaaaaaay!” which is exactly what he can do, scream, in perfect pitch. All the while riff master Andy Lux carries the tune blasting out rocking chords, and drummer Mark Ohrenberger bangs like a madman.

Also in the lineup you will hear She's a Real Gunslinger a song you'll no doubt want to get a lap dance to at some point in your life. Jopt that down on your “life's goals list” now. While you are listening its almost as if you can envision the pole, garter belts, and dollar bills flying. Next up, Electric is the Law which is the biker anthem of the Summer. If you are a Harley dude, get this tune. All this followed by one of my personal favorites Got Love, the rant from a man who is pissed off about falling in love.

Next we get a slow tempo bluesy burst of fun, Head Trauma and then back to the kicking **** with Kick Me Over, a screamers delight where the entire band just rocks, I don't want to get too fancy here, the song is like a battle cry for rockers. Lux, Tate, and Ohrenberger totally jam while Don Vito screams his heart out.

They finish us off (Happy ending, yes!) with Heavy Water a wild ride through through riffs, percussion, bass grooves and gravely screams that will blow your hair back if you get too close.

Dude, this album runs about an hour and will be your “Summer album” I promise. You know, the one you never take out of your car. Its really only meant to make you do one thing; ROCK. The lyrics are as deep as you want to take them, and the overall sound is hard rocking, raw, upbeat, and captures the same feeling Zeppelin had in their prime. Its fun, its hip, its ALIVE.

Oh yeah, one more thing, SNEW YOU!

LONG LIVE ROCK & ROLL, IN THIS EVER CHANGING DAY & AGE!!! These guys have the balls to do just that. Against all odds, these guys perservere!
Their debut Cd "Snew You" was just released & already it's drawing alot of attention from die hard rock fans.
As soon as you first listen, you hear a reminder of Rob Halford on a killer intro of vocals by Curtis himself. But Curtis does break into his own unique style of vocals thereafter. This Cd offers a variety of songs & music styles. We get a combination of hard hitting rockin' songs that they play best, w/a mixture of alittle blues & a ballad to even it all out.
My favourite picks from the Cd would be "She's A Real Gunslinger". This song has the typical AC/DC feel to it, as they say they draw some of their influences from. My other fave would be "Head Trauma". I'm a sucker for the blues/stripper style songs.
Overall, I'd say this is a very good Cd. It wouldn't disappoint. Well worth a listen & I'm happy to own it in my collection & thank you gentlemen for giving me this opportunity to listen & conduct this review for you.
Now, if only in the future they can produce another great Cd! Love to hear it!

They say that a couple of their influences are AC/DC and Motorhead, and I can definately hear a bit of both in guitars, and overall sound. Now, I'm finding it a little hard to describe Curtis Don Vito's voice, because it's so unique. His voice makes it feel like a breath of fresh air for the music world, and it fits right in with the songs. The biggest highlight of the album for me is the one that starts it all off, "Stand Up High"! I think that this is a good album overall, and definately worth checking out.
Snew is ready to set the world of rock on fire, so let's join them for the ride!
